The Buddy Collette Big Band in Concert: The Music of Buddy Collette

Reed man and bandleader Buddy Collette is a jazz institution. A member of the legendary Chico Hamilton Quintet in the mid-fifties, he’s also known as an educator who fostered the careers of Charles Mingus and Eric Dolphy. The concert captured on this Grammy-nominated CD was an emotional reunion for Collette and his collaborators of some 60 years, but the music is fresh, contemporary, and swingin’.
